Hugo Chavez has been president of Venezuela for 13 years, 7 months, and counting.
There are concerns that he will not relinquish power, even under increased pressure from political opposition.
On September the 29th, two were killed during an attack near the city of Barinas, which is the home town of the most popular opposition candidate Henrique Capriles.
The two killed were members of the Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD) opposition party, which is supporting Herique as the primary opposition candidate to Hugo Chavez.
Under Chavez’s rule spanning more than a decade, violent crime has skyrocketed.
It appears that Henrique was not at the location during the shootings, but commented via Twitter announcing his sorrow of the “bad news from Barinas, during a demonstration by thousands and thousands of opposition supporters.”
